We offer many ways to get involved...
We believe that we are all gifted and called to be involved in the world in which we live through fellowship and serving others. Here's some of the activities and ministries that we currently offer:
CHURCH MINISTRIES:
WORSHIP: Do you sing? Play an instrument? Write music? You may wish to be involved with the seasonal choirs (Easter and Christmas). Maybe you've wanted to learn how to run a sound board or PowerPoint. We can use you and will provide you with the training you need to do an excellent job!
WOMEN'S MINISTRY: Our women's ministry hosts special activities/meetings (usually once a month) and they have a great time of fellowship! There are special projects that the ladies get involved with to help provide meals for members and neighbors who are sick, and with other community outreaches as well.
MEN'S MINISTRY: Our men meet for breakfast on the 3rd Saturday of each month. Sometimes we go to a restaurant, and sometimes we cook it ourselves. The men also engage in special service projects for members and friends in the community who need help. Let us know if you're interested!
NEIGHBORHOOD VINES: As with any church, there are always things that need to be done each Sunday morning before and after services. Our congregation is divided up into working units, called Neighborhood Vines, that take turns in meeting those needs for a period of one month at a time. It's also been a great way for members to get to know one another better! Some of the tasks involve preparing coffee, bringing snacks, setting up communion, moving materials to the children's Sunday school area, setting out the billboard signs around town to help guests find us, etc. It's fun and we have a good time working together!
BIBLE STUDY AND DISCUSSION GROUPS: Several groups meet each week to study a book of the Bible, a Christian book, or to discuss in more detail the Sunday morning sermon in order to help make it become more "real" to daily life. Everyone is always welcome to attend any or all of these studies, and/or to host or lead a group.
STEPHEN MINISTRY: Stephen Ministry is a caring ministry to those who have, or who are experiencing some crisis in their life such as illness, death, loss of job, divorce, having a loved one stationed overseas or in prison - the list of crises is a long one. Stephen Ministers are members of Vineyard Hills Christian Church who have completed an arduous training program administered by Stephen Ministries - St. Louis (see our Associates and Links page for a like to their web site) who have a heart to be a friend in times of crisis. Stephen Ministers also participate in on-going training each month to maintain a high level of care for their care receivers. If you are interested in receiving care from Stephen Minister, or in becoming a Stephen Minister yourself, please let us know. You don't have to be a member of Vineyard Hills to have a Stephen Minister walk with you through a crisis in your life.
COMMUNITY OUTREACHES:
MONTHLY FOOD GIVE-AWAY: Every 3rd Thursday, we partner with Redwood Empire Food Bank to distribute several tons of food to the needy families in the Cloverdale area. The food bank brings the food to our location and we administer the program from there, including providing staffing for the give-away.
"I WILL" PROGRAM: In order to meet needs in the community, we've banded together as a congregation to contribute the money we save as individuals each week by forgoing the purchase of one cup of coffee or one soda, or by skipping a lunch and contributing that amount to help care for needs that arise in Cloverdale. We've been able to help meet numerous needs in the Cloverdale areas since this program began in summer of 2007.
MISSIONS:
STADIA NEW CHURCH STRATEGIES: We were planted in 2003 by STADIA New Church Strategies, one of the most successful church planting organizations in the world. As part of our purpose for existing, we join with other non-denominational Christian churches in the northern California area to plant other independent Christian churches. The first new church that we've been able to help plant is in the Santa Rosa area and is called Foundation Christian Church, and the latest is New Community Christian Church in San Francisco. Another new church will be starting soon in Santa Rosa!
